The 2016 Workum Fund Summer Interns

 

Max Bleich (K.K. Bene Israel Rockdale Temple) is a rising Junior at University of Cincinnati, majoring in Judaic Studies.

What are your hopes for your internship experience?
I hope to build lasting friendships with the other Workum interns, develop new and invaluable connections within the Cincinnati Jewish community, gain insight on congregational dynamics from my supervisor, and to grow my resume while also having fun!

 

Ilana Frankel (Jewish Federation of Cincinnati: Create Your Jewish Legacy and Legacy Flame), a rising Sophomore, is majoring in Media Advertising/Public Relations at Indiana University.

What are your hopes for your internship experience?
I hope to gain valuable skills for my career endeavors and learn more about planned giving and how to effectively tell a donor’s story. I’m also excited to become more involved with the Jewish community.

 

Ellie Goldman (Jewish Family Service) is a rising Senior at Kalamazoo College, majoring in Religion.

What are your hopes for your internship experience?
Working in the Education and Mentoring Department at JFS, I look forward to gaining a deeper understanding of how the Jewish community professionally cares for families and how various local institutions make that work possible.

 

Zakary Kadish (Jewish Community Relations Council) is a rising Sophomore at Washington University in St. Louis, majoring in Political Science.

What are your hopes for your internship experience?
I hope to have a meaningful impact on the Jewish community while also learning about public relations and Israel advocacy. I also look forward to making connections that will last me throughout my college career.




 

Sam Markiewitz (Jewish Federation of Cincinnati: Planning & Allocations) is a rising Sophomore at Cornell University, majoring in Economics and Mathematics.

What are your hopes for your internship experience?
With this internship, I hope to expand my skill set and gain experience working in a professional environment. I’m excited to learn more about the grant-writing, processing, and approval system that is so vital to the strength of our community.



 

Josh Oeters (The Mayerson JCC) is a rising Sophomore at the University of Toledo, majoring in Marketing.

What are your hopes for your internship experience?
I hope to gain experience marketing community programming to all ages, and to strengthen my bond to the Jewish community.




 

Nicole Palatchi (The Jewish Foundation of Cincinnati) is a rising Junior at Ohio State University, majoring in Marketing.

What are your hopes for your internship experience?
From this program, I am excited to get experience in strategic planning and community funding while also being active in the Jewish community of Cincinnati.




 

Jessie Paley (Cedar Village) is a rising Junior at University of Cincinnati, majoring in Judaic Studies with a minor in Organizational Leadership.

What are your hopes for your internship experience?
I’m very excited to be spending my summer at Cedar Village! I hope to learn from the residents at Cedar Village, gain experience, and make connections within the Jewish community of Cincinnati.




 

Arieh Nelson Venick (American Jewish Archives) is a rising Junior at College of Wooster, majoring in Sociology.

What are your hopes for your internship experience?
I am really looking forward to getting the chance to work in a prestigious archive. I’m extremely excited to be getting the opportunity to be exposed to the inner workings of the archive and to be able to learn archival skills.

 

Sophie Weinstein (The Center for Holocaust and Humanity Education) is a rising Senior at Dickinson College, majoring in Art History.

What are your hopes for your internship experience? I’m hoping to learn about the curatorial methods and other practices used in the exhibitions, both temporary and permanent, at CHHE while also gaining a better understanding of the field.
